The economic, educational and research power of Berkeley's world leading universities, laboratories and health care and pharmaceutical organizations are major forces in Berkeley. Combined, these organizations contribute hundreds of millions of dollars to the local economy and employ tens of thousands of Berkeleyans.  Few towns, or even large cities, can boast such a concentrated mix of world class research institutions.  It is the goal of this committee and the Chamber to build avenues for coordination and collaboration with these important institutions on issues of mutual benefit that ensure their prosperity and continued contributions to the business and citizens of Berkeley.
